Just a couple of mushy friends
We started Myqo because we want to share our love and sense of wonder for mushrooms. We started foraging and studying mushrooms years ago and quickly saw just how incredible they were. Even living in the heart of New York City, we found mushrooms popping up, almost magic-like, everywhere we looked: through pavement cracks, in sidewalk tree beds, and all over the parks.
The more we learned about them, the more we loved them. But at the same time, really good, edible mushrooms were hard to find in supermarkets. Even at premium stores, the mushrooms were not nearly as fresh as what we saw growing wild. NYC's excellent farmers markets had some mushroom vendors, but they sell out quick! So we thought we ought to dabble in growing some mushrooms for ourselves.
We didn't think mushrooms could get more interesting, but growing them was a whole new experience that was just incredible. We knew we had to share this with the world. Growing mushrooms is surprisingly exciting, and it's also a window into the wide, and usually hidden, world of fungi. Whether you're looking for a healthy meat alternative, interested in growing your own food, or maybe a little tired of watching succulents grow at the pace of molasses, take our hands, and let's jump in.
